Why go
Bush, then beach is the best-loved shape of an African holiday, and for good reason: the early mornings and dust of safari earn a week of doing very little beside the Indian Ocean. Safari Continents Travel routes join the two with a single flight, so you can move from a game drive to a swim in the same day.
The nights on each half are written on the itinerary. Count them and move them if you want more of one than the other; the quote can lengthen either side. Safari camps are usually full board or fully inclusive; beach hotels are often half board or bed and breakfast, and the stay says which.
Southern Africa pairs the Kruger's private reserves with Mozambique's Bazaruto Archipelago or Mauritius, and Cape Town with the Whale Coast. Botswana's Okavango and Victoria Falls work with Mozambique too, with a flight through Johannesburg.
East Africa has the classic combinations: Kenya's Masai Mara with the beaches south of Mombasa or the old town of Lamu, Tanzania's Serengeti and Ngorongoro with Zanzibar or a private island, and either with the Seychelles for a longer honeymoon or anniversary.
