Trips with a Purpose
Gorilla permits, park fees, and community visits are part of these plans. We do not claim a donation program beyond what the quote lists.
Why go

A trip with a purpose is a safari where part of what you pay and part of what you do goes to the people and the wildlife of the place: gorilla permits that fund forest protection, conservancy fees paid to the communities who own the land, and community or conservation visits written into the days. Safari Continents Travel lists these routes together so the purpose is visible.
We keep the claims modest. Park and permit fees named on the itinerary are included in the rate, and that is the public part of the contribution. Where a day includes a community visit or a conservation talk, the day text says so; where it only says one can be arranged, it is optional and the quote confirms it. This office does not run a separate charity programme, and these pages do not say otherwise.
In Southern Africa the purpose is often in where the camp sits: Zambia's Luangwa valley and Botswana's community concessions, where camps lease land from the villages around them and employ from them, and the reserves beside the Kruger, where many lodges support the schools and clinics on their boundary.
In East Africa the model is clearest. Uganda's and Rwanda's gorilla permits are the main income of the parks that protect the mountain gorilla, and Kenya's conservancies around the Masai Mara and in Laikipia pay lease fees directly to the Maasai and Samburu families who own the land.
The itineraries below name the fees and permits they include. Read them, ask about the community days that interest you, and request a quote. It comes before any payment.

Good to know
Trips with a purpose on this site are the ones where a gorilla permit, a park fee, or a community visit is already part of the plan. We do not describe a donation programme beyond what the quote lists.
The permit is specific
A gorilla day uses one permit per person, unless that itinerary says two are included. The quote repeats the number.
Fees stay in the rate
Park and permit fees named on the page are included. Optional community visits that the day text says can be arranged are confirmed on the quote.
No extra accolade
These pages do not claim an eco award or a charity partnership that this office does not run.
The visit is described plainly
If a day includes a village or a conservation talk, the day says so. If it only says you can book one, it is optional.

Pick the itinerary closest to what you want, tell us who is travelling and when, and we send a quote. Nothing is paid until you accept it.
