Itinerary

Days 1 - 3: From Maun to Khwai River | 3 Nights

Khwai Leadwood | Khwai Community Concession, Botswana

Itinerary information

You and your family will be welcomed at Maun Airport before boarding a light aircraft for a scenic flight into Khwai Leadwood, located within Botswana’s renowned Moremi Game Reserve. This wildlife-rich region is especially famous for its exceptional African wild dog sightings. Endangered yet thriving here, these striking black-and-gold predators have seen encouraging population growth, making sightings both thrilling and meaningful.

Set within a tranquil fig and leadwood forest along the Khwai River, the camp is thoughtfully designed with raised tents linked by wooden walkways. Each tent offers complete privacy and is styled with décor inspired by the golden age of Hemingway-era safaris, blending classic romance with modern comfort.

Your days will be filled with unforgettable safari experiences. Venture out on traditional game drives through Moremi’s diverse landscapes, enjoy superb birdwatching with binoculars in hand, and set off on night drives to discover the reserve’s nocturnal wildlife. Cultural visits to nearby communities provide insight into local life, while guided walking safaris offer intimate encounters with nature — few moments rival watching antelope or giraffe peacefully grazing just metres away.

Days 4 - 6: From Khwai River to Linyanti | 3 Nights

Linyanti Ebony | Linyanti, Botswana

Itinerary information

It’s time to say farewell to the friendly team at Khwai Leadwood as you make your way back to the airstrip for a short scenic flight to the Linyanti Channel. From Saile Airstrip, a gentle drive brings you and your family to Linyanti Ebony, an intimate camp with just four tents, tucked away near the lush borders of the Caprivi Strip.

You’ll once again settle into a spacious family tent, thoughtfully designed for comfort and privacy. The en-suite bathroom features a luxurious bathtub — perfect for a long soak after an adventurous walking safari. A swimming pool offers welcome relief from the afternoon heat, inviting you to cool off and relax while enjoying the tranquil surroundings.

Your days here are spent exploring the rich wetlands of the Linyanti Channel, an area known for excellent birdlife, including a reliable population of raptors. Glide quietly through the waterways on a traditional mokoro (dug-out canoe) — a timeless and peaceful way to experience the Delta’s wildlife and scenery.

Linyanti Ebony offers the rare opportunity to truly disconnect. With no Wi-Fi or mobile reception (aside from a dedicated charging station for camera batteries), the camp encourages a full digital detox. After three nights immersed in nature — waking to golden sunrises and the unmistakable call of the fish eagle — you and your family will return to Maun for your onward journey feeling refreshed, restored, and fully recharged.
