Upon arriving at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, you will be transferred to Wilson Airport for your scheduled flight to the Masai Mara National Reserve. Your base for the next two nights is the luxurious Bateleur Camp, nestled in a private western Mara concession and shaded by indigenous forest. The camp overlooks vast savannahs, in an area made famous by the iconic scenes from Out of Africa.
During the warmer hours, relax by the pool with poolside loungers and the attentive service of your personal butler. Each tented suite blends classic safari style with polished hardwood interiors, offering a spacious bathroom and a private deck with sweeping views of the plains.
The Mara is home to abundant wildlife, including all of the Big 5. Depending on the season, the Great Migration may sweep through, bringing wildebeest, zebras, and gazelles across the plains. After an early morning game drive and breakfast, you will return to Wilson Airport for a flight to Kilimanjaro International Airport, followed by a transfer to Lake Manyara. Your accommodation for the next two nights is the magical Lake Manyara Tree Lodge, where elegant treehouse suites are nestled among ancient mahogany trees.
The park’s diverse habitats are alive with wildlife. Acacia woodlands and floodplains host tree-climbing lions, elephants, and the tiny Kirk’s dik-dik, while playful blue monkeys and hornbills animate the forest. Banded mongoose add lively moments to your safari, and the park’s wetlands attract a stunning variety of birds, including flamingos, pelicans, and storks, making it a haven for birdwatchers.
Daily game viewing is offered by safari vehicle, on foot, or even by mountain bike, led by experienced guides. Night drives reveal the rich nocturnal life, including elusive species such as aardvark and bat-eared fox. After a morning game drive and breakfast at Lake Manyara, you will travel by road to the spectacular Ngorongoro Crater. This World Heritage Site is a unique ecosystem, offering dramatic landscapes and an extraordinary variety of wildlife. Your base for the visit is Lemala Osonjoi Lodge, ideally located to explore the area in comfort and style.
The Ngorongoro Crater is the world’s largest intact, un-flooded caldera, spanning roughly 260 square kilometres (100 square miles). From the lodge, descend over lush rainforest to the crater floor, where wildebeest, zebra, eland, and gazelle graze alongside Africa’s densest lion population. The surrounding forested slopes are home to elephants, mountain antelope, buffalo, hyenas, wild dogs, leopards, and cheetahs.
Enjoy a full day exploring the crater floor with a guided game drive, pausing for a picnic among the grazing herds. Return to the lodge for sunset drinks on the crater rim and a delicious dinner in the lodge’s dining area.
